Foh San Dim Sum @ Ipoh
During our journey to Bukit Tinggi last friday we stopped by Ipoh for some local Dim Sum. We made our way to Foh San Restaurant which is one of the popular places for Dim Sum. It was 7:30 in the morning and the crowd already started building up. We managed to find a place to sit and ordered some dim sum right away! We found that the dim sum trolley is hard to come by, so we ended up hunting for the trolley to get some food :P
Fried prawn dumpling
Prawn dumpling
Steamed fish ball
Supreme prawn dumpling
Pork dumpling
Pork mushroom bun
Yam paste with meat
So how was the food? Well, we think it is just average. Maybe the old style dim sum trolley not so good in presenting the variety of dim sum available. The Bali Hai dim sum concept in Penang seems better in getting what we want.
This used to be my fav dimsum joint here, but the last time we went, the food quality was mediocre. probably should pay Ming Court a visit?
ReplyDeleteHi j2kfm, to me the dim sum is so so nia although this is the first time I gave it a try. Penang's dim sum here more variety, and cheaper also. It cost us RM50 over for 6 persons to dine in Bali Hai, but it cost us roughly RM27 for 2 of us to dine in Foh San.
ReplyDeleteSomehow, the dim sum in Malaysia and Sg is very different frm Australia. Maybe different in chefs? Most dim sum chefs in aus r frm HK.
ReplyDeleteThose in Perth restaurants are all by HK chef. It taste much more delicious.
ReplyDeleteoh is foh san dim sum...early morning alr full of ppl...but taste is so so lo...
ReplyDeleteSquall, yeap, totally agree, it's really so so nia. Felt disappointed also.
ReplyDeleteFoh San's dim sum standard has dropped. Ppl normally go to Ming Court...prices slightly cheaper than FS. There are lotz of coffee shops in Ipoh having a dim sum stall...which I find not bad at all...along Cowan Street.Of course not much choices la. ^ *
ReplyDeleteElinluv, I'm not familiar with Ipoh, that's why just went to Foh San lor. :(
ReplyDeleteAte here almost a year ago. Until now I haven't post it up :( I enjoyed it although many says the quality dropped.
ReplyDeleteHi durianberry, oh, then it will be the outdated post then, hehe
ReplyDeletewow! driving all the way to ipoh for dim sum!
ReplyDeleteBig Boys Oven, oh, actually our destination was to Bukit Tinggi. Just dropped by Ipoh to have our dim sum breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI had Foh San Dim Sum when I was small.. but not anymore now. Those days the standard was good and excellent. I heard it dropped for awhile.
ReplyDeleteNow that when am back to Ipoh, I don't go for dim sum but hakka mee. :)
New kid, Hakka mee? Any recomendation? Not familiar with Ipoh, so have to make some homework before visiting again.
