My parents in law's new domestic helper started her job back in May 2010. Since then, I'm seeing a major make over to the back yard. She plants quite a number of species there. She started with tomato plants. However, it was not a successful start. The plants were damaged by 2 rabbits from a neighbor. The rabbits hopped in from the front gate and enjoyed a nice meal munching on the tomato plants. :P
After the incident, she change her strategy to plant bird's eye chilli, screw pine and lemongrass. Then, new species were added by growing sweet potato leaf, sweet leaf (Pucuk Manis), spring onion, Kaffir lime leaf, pineapple, banana tree and papaya tree.
The following are the snap shots of her hard work.
Kaffir lime leaves
Sweet potato leave
Bird's eye chilli
Sweet leaf aka pucuk manis
Spring onion
Your home grown vegetables are fantastic. We started growing a lemon tree and a lime tree and we are still having no fruit...my husband is very sad. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI used to plant all these when I was staying in a corner unit house. Really missed all these because now staying in condo :(
ReplyDeletethat's amazing! she has such green fingers!
ReplyDeleteDo they give you one more reason to crave more curry or Asian dishes? : )
ReplyDeleteWah! You got hare there in Penang ar!!!??? WAH! But then, the helper sure has green fingers!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful veggies, awesome..
ReplyDeleteWOW! How I wish I got green finger like your mom's maid. All the plants looks so healthy :)
ReplyDeleteHow nice that garden sounds! I think I should plant a kaffir lime tree. ANd some thai basil. That would make my life infinitely easier.
ReplyDeletei'm slightly jealous because the last tomato plant and chili plant we planted died... a terrible death!!! not green thumbs for sure. Fresh veges and herbs from the garden just taste so much better!
ReplyDeleteThat's one garden I would love to have hehe unfortunately my thumbs are not green at all!
ReplyDeleteSo green and beautiful! It's good to have a garden AND time to make full use of it :)
ReplyDeleteYour parent's domestic helper sounds very resourceful and wonderful. I bet she will soon have a very good idea of what does well and what doesn't. Nothing bothers my tomatoes so far, but I can't keep the pests away from my cucumber! Either way, all of her stuff here looks wonderful. Wish I could grow some onion like that...
