I'm Back!

Hello friends! Thanks for those who left me messages and send me emails. Finally I'm back to blog. We were so busy welcoming our little girl to our family. I was away for good reasons, don't worry. I'm fine. :)

My baby girl is 2 months old now. With her around, I can hardly spend time to dish up my home cooked food, what's more to photograph it. I don't mean to quit cooking and blogging. My passion in cooking will never die. Just for the time being, I stick to simple food that is cooked in slow cooker. I rely on slow cooker to prepare a pasta sauce, meat sauce, and soups.

I'll share some simple cooking. Hopefully I'm able to capture some food photos over the weekend.

Home Grown Vegetables

My parents in law's new domestic helper started her job back in May 2010. Since then, I'm seeing a major make over to the back yard. She plants quite a number of species there. She started with tomato plants. However, it was not a successful start. The plants were damaged by 2 rabbits from a neighbor. The rabbits hopped in from the front gate and enjoyed a nice meal munching on the tomato plants. :P

After the incident, she change her strategy to plant bird's eye chilli, screw pine and lemongrass. Then, new species were added by growing sweet potato leaf, sweet leaf (Pucuk Manis), spring onion, Kaffir lime leaf, pineapple, banana tree and papaya tree.

The following are the snap shots of her hard work.

Home Grown Spring Onion

I'm in the progress to achieve my dream to have a little spice garden at home. I have very little knowledge and experience in gardening. First, I started to grow mint and parsley back in August this year. The Parsley didn't last long. Within a week, the plant was dried up. On the other hand, the mint plant grows pretty well. I'm neither a green thumb or black thumb. 50-50, I would say? So far, a few batches of home grown mint leaves were harvested to make mint leave omelet, assam laksa and mint leaves soup.

About a week ago, I planted a few shallots into a pot. Now, each shallot blossoms into spring onion. It is so easy to plant it at home and it shoots pretty fast. Furthermore, it requires no special care, except sun light and water to survive. Spring onion doesn't last long in fridge. So, it is a good idea to grow on your own and harvest it anytime you need it.Soon, I'll utilise this fresh home grown spring onion in my culinary, either raw or cooked.

A Short Break

Hi all, I'll take a short break from blogging and blog hopping until next week.

I was just blogged about grandma-in-law's recipe on stir-fried vermicelli in tomato sauce, but now she is no longer with us. She passed away on Wednesday evening. She could eat, story telling and walk just like usual before she suddenly felt weak.

Grandma, don't worry about us. Just rest in peace.

Flying Off to Western Australia!

You must be wondering why there's no updates on this food blog for such a long period. What are we busy at? Thanks to NKOTB's concern for my recent "disappearance".

Life's hectic since end of April. We'll be flying off to Perth this afternoon. Due to the busy schedule to shop for the trip necessities, some arrangements to be made, and also my detoxification program, I missed an invited food review from Criz. Hopefully there will be a gathering session soon. :)

We'll be back on 17th May. Stay tuned for the upcoming Australia food reviews.

X'mas present from Foodbuzz ~

Hi, I'm sure everybody's looking forward for X'mas now...so merry X'mas everybody!

Today afternoon I went back home to have lunch with hubby and coincidentally a mail was delivered by postman. It was addressed to me, and seems like foodbuzz sent me a mail! So I hurriedly open up the package and guess what? Foodbuzz just sent me Moo minicards! A tiny little box filled with a range of colorful photos and my name and website printed on the back!

I really love the tiny little cards. They are just gorgeous and I feel reluctant to give them away!

In the end, I sorted out the cards and kept a unique set for myself and the rest...well, I plan to distribute to my friends and family.

Hubby and I plan to go out for dinner tonight. I guess a lot of people will do the same. :)

7 Facts About Little Inbox

Elinluv, Cariso, After Giovani and Food Paradise tagged me on 7 Facts about me and passed me the awards too. I've doing the same tag - 8 Random Facts About Me. However, I realise that I should link the 7 facts to food in this makan blog, rather than the personal facts like the earlier one.

The awards:

7 Facts About Little Inbox:

1. I love cooking, just discover this recently. I seldom stepped into the kitchen before married.

2. I like to eat. I rarely loss my appetite.

3. I'm not a picky eater. I eat almost everything, except those "exotic" food.

4. I restrict myself from taking Maggie/Cintan/Ibumie/Har mee instant noodle and yellow noodle. I go for vermicelli, mee suah, organic wheat noodle, spaghetti and angle hair.

5. I enjoy my breakfast very much when hubby cooks me a not-so- healthy Ramly burger with fried egg and bake bean.

6. On my working days, I used to take my lunch at mom's place. *Wink Wink*

7. I started to prepare dinner at home pretty cosistently on every working day for almost 10 months. :)
