Mother's Day Special

On this special Mother's Day, I invited my parents to come over to my house. I don't feel like joining the crowds in the restaurant for a Mother's Day celebration. So today, I'm sharing some of my simple home-cooked dishes with my parents. I told my mom to enjoy this humble homey meal for today, and I'll arrange for another dine out soon.

Although there is room for improvement in my culinary skill, mom and dad seem like enjoy the dinner quite well. That's the love of parents. :-)

Below are some snap shots of our dinner.

My first attempt of making roast pork - the skin is crunchy, but the meat is too lean.

Lotus root and peanut soup - I boiled it in the slow cooker for 4 hours. It's very flavorful.

Stir-fried broccoli and fresh shiitake mushroom with lots of garlic.

Shrimp ball tofu that I've made last week. Making it again today.  :)

Happy Mother's Day!!

if the roast pork is half lean half fat then should be perfect!!!

What a fantastic meal for Mom, and Dad too! But, you must do like Julia Child said, "You should never apologize... People will think it's really not good." It's your home cooking with plenty of love you added to it and it sounds like to me you are a fine cook!!!

mimid3vils, yalor, but the pork that I "tumpang" my father to buy was too lean. :(

Pam, oh, so touch...Thanks.

Homecooked meal is always the best! It is indeed a wise choice to dine at home rather than join the crowd at restaurant during Mothers day.

Your roasted pork looks yummy and crunchy, It doesn't looks like first attempt at all! I love all the dishes here.

that is very thoughtful! Lean meat is good- not so fatty =) also that the rest of your dishes are healthy too. I would love a bowl of that soup!

Anncoo, Happy belated Mother's DAy to you too!

Applebees Coupons, thanks for putting up your comments here.

Serene, in fact most of the dishes that I publish here are almost all my first attempts. :) I like to cook new dishes rather than repeat the same food.

Elin, Happy belated Mother's Day ya...

tigerfish, I'll plan another dine out soon. :)

Hi Shell, thanks. :)

foodbin, bear in mind that all the ingredients for the shrimp ball tofu must be fresh, otherwise it will not taste so good.

Joanne, it's true, the dishes especially the roast pork can be improved. Not so good yet.

daphne, oh ya, but the lean pork was not purposely prepared.

What a feast for your family! Your parents must be really proud of you.

It's wise to eat in on Mother's Day, everywhere is crowded and noisy :p
