Fish Porridge and Noodle @ Restoran Her Pian



Last Saturday after our morning walk session, we went out for breakfast with FIL. Of course, he is very familiar on where to go for cheap and delicious local food. ;) This time he brought us to River Side for fish porridge.

There's only one stall operating in the morning. Fish porridge (RM4.50), fish vermicelli soup (RM4.50), pork porridge (RM3.50), and koay teow th'ng (RM2.50) are available.






FIL ordered his fried fish fillet porridge. Hmm...old folks really love porridge. :) But hubby and I quickly responded "no" when he invited us to order porridge. We prefer smooth and soft porridge, rather than "rice soaked in soup".


Hubby ordered fresh fish fillet bee hoon soup. I tried the fish fillet. It's very fresh. No fishy smell at all.


For me, I ordered bee hoon soup with fried fish fillet. The serving consisted very generous portion of fish fillets, chinese cabbage and celery. The soup base is not overly sweetened by Ajinomoto. I would say it is a good choice for breakfast.

Restaurant Her Pian (River Side) is located near the traffic light turning into Patani Jaya.

No Christy. It is located at the South region of Sungai Petani. If you come from Central Square on your left, then this kopitiam is after the traffic light (there's a petrol station, err...Esso kua). It is located at the corner lot of the row of shop houses.

J2kfm, yes, I'm from Penang, but we used to travel back to SP on weekly basis to visit parents in law ma.

patani jaya ah... a bit far from here, but if the food is nice no harm for a try. may be got drop by there can follow ur instruction to go there. Btw, wat time is their operating hour and rest day?

Simplegirl, yes, the fish is abssolutely fresh. In SP, it's quite hard to find delicious food, but cheap food is everywhere.

Sp envy u since food in M'sia are very much cheaper than those in SG.

Yeah I think there is this debate about porridge vs congee - porridge is rice soaked in soup while congee is basically cooked longer to the point of rice disintegration. I like the latter too!

Dora, yes our food here is cheaper, but our pay also lower. :(

50ml jar of faith, hmm looks like most ppl like smoother and softer texture of congee.

New kid, haha...I went back SP every week, so no problem for me. :)
